Andrews tailors cooling system to server room during its construction

It’s not every day that your help is enlisted by a manufacturing company dedicated to assisting the UK’s defence and security forces, but there’s a reason they turned to us!

Our client was in the process of assembling a new server room cabin from scratch in their workshop, and they were looking for a permanent air conditioning solution to be incorporated while the build was ongoing.

They had specified that an overall cooling capacity of 20kW would be adequate but that redundancy measures should be incorporated in case a unit failed unexpectedly. read more

Mounted systems cater for new school dining room

When a school in Norfolk looked to upgrade their kitchen and dining facilities on site, a permanent air conditioning system was required to accommodate both areas.

The school’s estates team turned to a company that specialises in manufacturing modular structures, prompting the erection of a custom-made building on the premises. In this instance, any air conditioning system proposed would need to be capable of combatting any additional heat gain from the glass exterior.

After inspecting the application in person, our regional expert recommended the installation of four 10kW Mitsubishi wall-mounted units which were evenly spaced on the external walls due to an absence of ceiling voids. read more

Bus depot office workers feel the benefit of modern air conditioning system

A prominent bus company in the West Country was suffering an ongoing issue with their Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning system, leading to complaints from employees working at the depot. Staff based in offices on site were getting too hot during the summer as the ageing equipment could no longer effectively combat seasonal heat.

This project essentially involved the replacement of faulty units with modern alternatives – and Mitsubishi Electric was earmarked as our client’s preferred manufacturer. read more

Regional leadership academy installs multi-unit air conditioning solution ahead of the summer

Because demand for air conditioning tends to be much higher in the summer, you’re better off booking an installation or maintenance service during periods in which cooling is less likely to required.

Choosing to upgrade your system during the winter eliminates the risk of impulse purchases and inadvertently selecting equipment that may not be right for your business or application.

It’s quite common for customers to contact us in January or February, with this approach ensuring that they are well prepared long before summer arrives. read more

National food supplier takes safety precautions over air quality

With the importance of air quality control more prevalent in society than it has ever been, it is hardly surprising that companies from all industries are taking steps to improve conditions inside their buildings. This was recently exemplified when a renowned food distributor contacted Andrews Air Conditioning with a view to making some adaptations to their existing set-up.

The air conditioning at their headquarters in London was supplied by dozens of cassette and split type systems, but these lacked a fresh air supply to some of the smaller offices. In this instance, our client was looking to enhance the air quality within these working areas. Following a comprehensive site survey which was carried out by one of our local experts, a proposal was made to help disinfect recirculating air by adding UVc light equipment to their units. read more

Legal firm arranges maintenance visit before work from home directives change

Prior to a well-known solicitors in London requesting that staff return to the office following an easing of Covid restrictions, the facilities manager responsible for the building suggested that all air conditioning systems be serviced while building occupancy was low.

Due to the premises effectively lying empty for the best part of 18 months, the air conditioning equipment had not been used at all during this period. Our client considered it in their employees’ best interests to ensure that air within the building was as clean as possible, hence the need for our involvement! read more

Andrews upgrades R22 refrigerant systems for well-known drinks company

One of the country’s best-loved soft drink manufacturers got in touch with us after enduring a number of issues with the cooling system at their northern base. The client’s twin and split air conditioning systems were operating on R22 refrigerant and these were failing fairly regularly due to the units being obsolete.

This continued unreliability prompted our customer to consider replacing the entire system with a modern and energy-efficient solution.

Prior to discussing which equipment might be best for the project, our client explained that they had two very specific stipulations which we were required to accommodate. These were guaranteeing the removal of the heat load from all condensers located inside the warehouse, and relocating two external VRF units to an external compound outside the main building. read more

The potential for catastrophe is so high that a large food distribution company reached out to us in search of a permanent cooling solution to sit inside their newly built server room. read more

Andrews provides new day nursery with all-encompassing HVAC system

The Prime Minister was invited to cut the ribbons at the Monkey Puzzle nursery in West London last month – but not before Andrews Air Conditioning & Refrigeration had completed their part in getting the premises ready to welcome children from across the capital.

The proprietors were originally seeking a permanent heating and cooling arrangement and had contacted us after being made aware of our longstanding association with Charlton Athletic Football Club.

With Covid-19 forcing many businesses to consider how they could reduce the likelihood of airborne virus transmission, our client emphasised a desire to take precautions by requesting equipment that would constantly deliver air changes. read more
