Andrews provides new day nursery with all-encompassing HVAC system

The Prime Minister was invited to cut the ribbons at the Monkey Puzzle nursery in West London last month – but not before Andrews Air Conditioning & Refrigeration had completed their part in getting the premises ready to welcome children from across the capital.

The proprietors were originally seeking a permanent heating and cooling arrangement and had contacted us after being made aware of our longstanding association with Charlton Athletic Football Club.

With Covid-19 forcing many businesses to consider how they could reduce the likelihood of airborne virus transmission, our client emphasised a desire to take precautions by requesting equipment that would constantly deliver air changes.

As a multifaceted requirement, our experts contemplated the many factors at play before proposing a solution that would deliver on all three fronts.

This consultation phase preceded the proposal and subsequent installation of a Daikin heat recovery VRV system and multiple heat recovery VAM systems.

These units were perfectly designed to meet the specifications of our client, with the VRV cooling and heating system able to function in various modes including offering continuous heating during any external system defrost.

The heat recovery ventilation systems were based on the building’s anticipated maximum occupancy, with all internal ductwork specifically manufactured and worked in conjunction with the VRV system.

Despite facing a number of logistical challenges including a need to position the outdoor unit at a high level – as stipulated by the project’s developer – we were able to coordinate the installation alongside internal trades that were being simultaneously carried out.

Our team worked diligently to handle the enquiry as quickly as possible, organising a site project pre-start meeting that allowed us to be on site within a week of us first being contacted.

From the moment a plan of action was agreed, we took control of the job and managed all aspects of its implementation without any issues curtailing the timeline originally outlined.

Customer satisfaction remains the best barometer of a project’s success and the testimonial provided by our client was certainly reflective of the professional manner in which it was carried out.

The result was that a high-profile day nursery was able to open on time, which the Prime Minister described as “an amazing facility with great resources.”
