You Know How Valuable Your Air Conditioning Is. So Do They!

The price of metals such as copper has increased considerably in recent times. That also increases the scrap value of anything containing copper – your air conditioning for instance. Air conditioners and their associated pipework contain lots of copper, making them particularly vulnerable to thieves. If thieves do strike you’ll be left with the costs of replacing the equipment, the refrigerant and, most importantly of all, the disruption to your premises or business.

‘’That’s why Andrews Air Conditioning Services helps you to protect yourself with a wide range of added-value security devices including anti-tamper alarms, condenser protection cages, pipework covers and non-copper pipework’’, says Tom Kelley, National Service Manager at Andrews Air Conditioning Services. read more

Michelin Replaces Tired Air Conditioning

As part of a major investment in their Dundee tyre manufacturing facility, Michelin Tyre plc contacted Andrews Air Conditioning Services to decommission and remove an aged packaged system. The existing installation, supplying critical cooling to the site’s IT suite, no longer met the stringent performance specification required by Michelin UK. It was found to contain the ozone-depleting R22 refrigerant which is being rapidly phased out.

Andrews Air Conditioning Services removed the obsolete units and replaced them with two Toshiba under-ceiling systems, featuring an auto restart function to ensure rapid restoration of air conditioning following a power failure. The sophisticated systems also interface with the building’s fire panel, ensuring the systems shut down immediately in the event of a fire alarm. New production equipment is being installed at the Dundee plant which will enable it to manufacture the latest generation of car tyres. read more

R22 Scrappage Scheme

We are all familiar with scrappage schemes for old cars and boilers. But here’s something new – The Andrews Air Conditioning Scrappage Scheme.

Any air conditioning over 10 years old probably uses R22 refrigerant, an ozone-depleting CFC which is now banned. By law R22 systems will become unserviceable at the end of 2014 – spare parts are already in short supply and increasingly expensive.

The Andrews Air Conditioning Scrappage Scheme gives you a massive £150 scrappage allowance towards your new air conditioning for every R22 system we replace* when you take out a Planned Maintenance Contract with us.  And all our new air conditioning is ozone-friendly, highly energy-efficient and comes with up to 5 years warranty. read more

New R22 Replacement App Launched

Any air conditioning over 10 years old probably uses R22 refrigerant, an ozone-depleting CFC which is now banned by law. R22 systems will become unserviceable at the end of 2014 but spare parts are already in short supply and increasingly expensive. These ageing systems will also use around twice the energy and be far more likely to break down than modern replacements.

That’s why Andrews Air Conditioning has launched its brand new R22 Replacement App. Let us show you how to comply with stringent R22 refrigerant legislation, save on energy costs and protect the environment by reducing your CO2 output. read more

Air Conditioning in Winter?

It’s a fact that in addition to creating a cool, comfortable summer environment, most modern air conditioning systems can provide clean, cost-effective winter heating too. It’s also a fact that many users aren’t aware of the many benefits of this ‘heat pump technology’.

The latest air conditioning systems are able to work ‘in reverse’, extracting free energy from the external environment to provide comfortable heating even in the depths of winter. They are extremely energy-efficient, with low running costs and a high degree of control. read more

Keep Moving To Stay Cool

Air conditioning is increasingly becoming an essential element of our modern lifestyles. But, if used carelessly, it can result in a significant waste of energy. That’s why Andrews Air Conditioning Services is offering Passive Infra-Red (PIR) motion sensors to its customers.

Discussing the technology, Andy Whiteley, Divisional Director of Andrews Air Conditioning says, ”The technology isn’t new, we’re all familiar with its use in burglar alarm systems, but its application to reducing energy consumption is less well-known”. read more

Get Back In Your Cage

In response to customers’ heightened sense of insecurity coupled with the real increase in the incidence of copper theft, Andrews Air Conditioning is offering a wide range of added-value security devices.

These include ‘active’ systems like anti-tamper alarms and  ‘passive’ systems such as anti-vandal condenser cages, pipework protection covers and non-copper pipework.

Commenting on the increasing risk of copper pipework theft from air conditioning systems, Alasdair McLean, National Projects Manager for Andrews Air Conditioning noted,  ‘Recent events show that we all share the responsibility to protect ourselves and our property from theft rather than relying on an overstretched police service’. read more
