Refrigerant dehumidifiers are a highly effective and energy-efficient method of humidity control.

Refrigerant dehumidifiers work by cooling air to the point where the invisible water vapour it contains begins to condense. This condensed water is drained and the dry air is reheated to be returned to the internal space. The process is achieved by drawing moist air from the area to be dried and passing it over a cold coil (the Evaporator). The moisture in the air condenses on the evaporator and this water is collected and drained away. The drier air then flows over a warm coil (the Condenser) and is reheated before being returned to the space as warm dry air.

As this process continues the relative humidity (i.e. the percentage of moisture) of the air progressively reduces and can be maintained at a desired level with a humidistat control. In conditions of extreme moisture sensitivity, the drying process can be further improved by keeping the space sealed (i.e. doors and windows closed) and by the use of additional heating and fans to generate greater air movement through the dehumidifier.

Refrigerant dehumidifiers can be wall or floor-mounted and are ideal for controlling the relative humidity of a wide variety of facilities such as:

  • Production areas
  • Product stores & warehouses
  • Museums, galleries & archives
  • Leisure facilities
  • Vehicle garages & aircraft hangars
  • Clothing and kit drying rooms

Highly reliable and quiet in operation, refrigerant dehumidifiers typically require only an annual internal inspection and clean. They are available in a wide variety of capacities to suit every application.
